This page is maintained by the Artful Mind team to explain what personal information Artful Mind ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our mobile and web application (the "App") and website at artfulmind.app (together, the "Service"), why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it. It is written to satisfy our obligations under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs"), and Apple's App Store privacy requirements (including App Tracking Transparency).
Artful Mind is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. If you have any questions about this policy or wish to exercise your privacy rights, you can contact our privacy team at privacy@artfulmind.app.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the same address acts as our point of contact for data-protection matters. For users in Australia, the same address serves as our APP Privacy Officer contact.
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
We do not knowingly collect special categories of data (such as health or religious beliefs). Reflections you choose to write may of course touch on sensitive topics — they remain under your control and are treated with the same protections as the rest of your account.
Artful Mind is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK where local law requires a higher age). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact privacy@artfulmind.app and we will delete it.
We process your personal information for the following purposes, relying on the legal bases listed below for users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland:
We do not use your reflections, artwork, or AI prompts to train generative-AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.
When you ask for an AI reflection, the prompt text and any image you attach are sent to our AI model provider over an encrypted connection to generate a response. We send only what is needed for that single request. Our providers are contractually prohibited from using your content to train their models and must delete it after a short retention window used for abuse monitoring.
AI reflections are intended for creative self-reflection only. They are not medical, psychological, or crisis advice. If you need urgent help, please use the crisis resources linked in the app.
Posts you share to the community gallery are visible to other signed-in members of Artful Mind. They are displayed anonymously — your name, email, and avatar are not shown — but you should still avoid sharing information that could identify you or others. You can delete any of your posts at any time, and we may remove content that violates our community guidelines.
Subscription entitlements are managed by RevenueCat, Inc., which acts as our processor. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous user identifier, your purchase history, subscription status, and device/store metadata so that your subscription works across your devices. Payments themselves are taken by Apple, Google, or Stripe under their own terms and privacy policies.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe billing portal, as applicable. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund completed billing periods unless required by law.
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user identifier and the email address you choose to share. We use this only to create and secure your account. Revoking access from your Apple ID or Google account settings will sign you out, and you can delete your Artful Mind account at any time from Profile → Delete account.
Artful Mind does not track you across other companies' apps or websites and does not share data with data brokers or advertising networks. We therefore do not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.
We share personal information only with vetted providers who help us run the Service:
These providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the EEA, UK, Switzerland, or Australia, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum where relevant) and ensure recipients are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations comparable to the APPs.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your reflections, artwork, check-ins, community posts, and profile are permanently removed from our production systems within 7 days, and from encrypted backups within 30 days. We may retain a minimal set of billing records (such as invoices) for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and limited security logs for up to 12 months.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest in our hosting infrastructure. Database access is restricted by row-level security so that, by default, only you can read or modify your own reflections. Access by our team is limited, logged, and used only for support, security, and legal compliance. No system is perfectly secure, so if you become aware of an issue please email security@artfulmind.app.
Wherever you live, you can view, edit, export, or delete your reflections at any time from within the app, and delete your whole account from Profile → Delete account.
EEA / UK / Switzerland (GDPR & UK GDPR): you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. You can also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (for example, the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your national EU Data Protection Authority).
Australia (APPs): you have the right to request access to and correction of the personal information we hold about you, and to complain to us about how we have handled your personal information. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
To make any of these requests, email privacy@artfulmind.app. We will respond within 30 days.
On the web we use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and local-storage items to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The mobile app uses only the device storage required to operate the Service.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
Privacy questions, requests, or complaints: privacy@artfulmind.app.
